Early Life and Discovery

Romee Strijd was born on July 19, 1995, in Zoetermeer, South Holland, Netherlands. She was first approached by a modeling scout at the age of 13 while shopping in Amsterdam but initially declined due to nervousness and other aspirations. Two years later, at 15, she decided to pursue modeling and signed with DNA Model Management in 2011. After working in Milan, Paris, and New York City, she took a brief hiatus to return to the Netherlands and complete her education. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City to fully commit to her modeling career. ​

Modeling Career

Romee's modeling career rapidly ascended as she walked for prestigious fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Calvin Klein. She has graced the covers and editorials of international editions of Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, and Madame Figaro. In 2014, she made her debut at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and was named a Victoria's Secret Angel in 2015, becoming the third Dutch model to receive this honor. In 2018, she was selected to wear the Swarovski Shooting Star outfit, adorned with over 125,000 crystals. ​

Beyond the runway, Romee has established herself as a digital influencer. Her Instagram account, @romeestrijd, boasts over 8 million followers, where she shares insights into her modeling work, fitness routines, and personal life. Romee has been in a relationship with Laurens van Leeuwen since 2010. The couple announced their engagement in January 2022 and have two daughters: Mint, born in December 2020, and June, born in November 2022. Romee has openly discussed her struggle with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), attributing lifestyle changes and reduced stress to her improved health and ability to conceive. ​
